Spier Wine Harvest Festival
On Saturday, 27 February 2010, Spier will host the annual Spier Wine Harvest Festival – a celebration to bless the grape harvest. The lawns in front of Eight – Spier’s new ‘farm to table’ restaurant – will be transformed into a wine wonderland. Adults can lounge under the trees and enjoy great food and wine, while children join in a host of interactive games.

Biodiversity Expo 2010

The Biodiversity Expo is a "one stop information shop" for all information related to Biodiversity Conservation. A wide range of organisations will be exhibiting the conservation work they do and fielding your questions.

There will be art displays, music, audiovisual media and plenty more. As a bonus, you will be at the Kirstenbosch Garden where you can go and relax as well. There will be live animals, strange plants and passionate people.

We have designed the Expo so that anyone who experiences the Expo should be able to find out what Biodiversity is, why it is important, what career opportunities there are to become involved, what volunteering opportunities there are to be become involved and to leave with the tools necessary for you to become a environmental hero for South Africa.

By having both the conservation organizations that employ conservationists and having the tertiary institutions that provide the skills for them to be employed, a prospective conservationist can walk into the Expo and plan an entire career, no matter where they are in their life. The Expo provides various options for you to choose to become an environmental hero for South Africa.

Earth Hour

Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.
