Bathroom Cabinetworks Brings Style to Your Home
CABINETWORKS was founded in 1994 by world renowned rock climber, alpinist, skydiver and BASE jumper and cabinetmaker: Andy de Klerk. Having travelled the world over 2 decades, Andy de Klerk spent 10 years in Seattle, USA, where he was strongly influenced by Eastern design principles in his Cabinetry work. Cabinetworks is different to other Kitchen and Furniture manufacturers in their preferred use of Bamboo as the main manufacturing material. Bamboo brings across a balanced, textured feel which is elegantly crafted by their cabinet makers with strong geometric but simple, contemporary design and thus their motto: “calm balance soul”. But, principally, more important for Cabinetworks is the sustainability of bamboo and most other materials used in their manufacturing. Unlike Bamboo, trees take between 30 to 40 years to reach maturity before they can be felled and used commercially. Bamboo, however, takes a mere 5 – 7 years to reach a staggering 25 – 28 meters. Other materials also used in manufacturing are natural oil, water-based lacquer, recycled paper waste board, formaldehyde-free MDF imported board, and FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) certified timbers, as well as glass, stainless steel and concrete. The factory in Kommetjie, in the Western Cape’s deep and beautiful south, consists of nine skilled craftsmen who all live and work by the company policy of responsibility to the environment. Most of the factory staff walk or cycle to work and live in the area. Wood scraps are recycled and sawdust donated to an Although there are a few select standard pieces of furniture produced by Cabinetworks, most of their furniture is custom designed. The same applies to their exquisitely crafted kitchens. Cabinetworks products are of the highest quality, always preferring to produce quality over quantity, making each of Cabinetworks pieces of furniture and kitchens unique and specially created for each client.
