Chad Wise-Jarvis:Bridging the Gap

Packing for Perth has a completely different meaning for ex-pat Chad Wise-Jarvis. Chad did emigrate to Australia from Johannesburg, but he hasn’t forgotten his roots. Instead, he’s started a company that offers other South Africans the opportunity to invest in real estate in Australia, whether they plan to live and work there, or simply wish to invest offshore.

His business, Acquest Property Solutions, acts as a bridge for South Africans wishing to purchase commercial, industrial or residential property in Australia by setting up bank accounts for them, arranging finance (at an interest rate of 5,10 per cent, compared with 14 per cent in SA) and finding out what is available in a particular area. It also supplies potential émigrés with all the information they need on emigrating to Australia, living there and working there.

Chad emigrated to Sydney 11 years ago before relocating to Queensland, on the Sunshine Coast, in 2003. He visits South Africa every two months to hold seminars on purchasing property overseas, and also has a local office in Johannesburg.

‘In the seminars, I tell people about Australia from a property perspective,’ he explains. ‘I give them all the details they need on how to purchase property in Australia. Legally, foreign nationals cannot buy any property second-hand; they need to purchase off-plan or buy brand new. And when it comes to commercial property, there’s a cut-off of A$50-million [around R337,5-million].

‘We include all the information a person would need if  he, or she, was planning to emigrate to Australia, including government infrastructure, population growth, employment opportunities, interest rates and the availability of services. We also offer to assist them every step of the way in either emigrating and purchasing property or purchasing property as an offshore investment.

‘This includes everything from assisting with opening bank accounts to raising finance at competitive rates, rental guarantees, financial planning, property management and the organising of solicitors, accountants, and financial planners.’

Chad has extensive experience in commercial and residential property. His company handles every kind of real estate, including premium waterfront homes, off-plan sales, development sites, commercial properties, vacant land and premium investment units.

‘We do the groundwork in Australia, which includes researching which areas have the fundamentals for good growth and strong rental demand,’ he explains. ‘We understand Australia’s property cycles and are able to recommend different areas to suit different clients. We also offer a complete solution for anyone wishing to invest in property, including the services of property managers, solicitors and lenders. We inspect properties for our SA clients, and, if the property is being built from scratch, we update them with images all the way through the building process.’
